Heading to the mind & Life Summer Research Institute

I'm excited to say that I'll be attending the Mind & Life Institute's
Summer Research Institute in June. This unique week-long program at The Garrison Institute is a convening of researchers, practitioners, and innovators in the field of contemplative psychology, meditation and mindfulness practice, and Eastern spiritual traditions.

Being accepted to the program is very encouraging for me as I explore new horizons of my career. More and more, my focus has been converging on the field of "contemplative innovations": new ways to bring the benefits of meditation-based wellness and thriving to broader and more diverse populations.

I don't yet know how this will take shape, but the work I've been doing in the past few years has been informing it in super interesting ways. My work with The B.R.O. Experience Foundation has taught me so much about mental and emotional wellness (specifically with Black male youth) as well as the nonprofit startup world. My green/arts real estate work with my father and Second Street Associates has got me deep into finance, operations, and urban design. And as I reach the end of my year of business school at the Bard Graduate Programs in Sustainability, I have new skills and perspective on applying business fundamentals (accounting, finance, marketing, strategy, consulting) to environmental and social sustainability.

I'm still finding my way through this transition phase, but I'm consistently excited by all the possible ways to help more people connect with meaning, resilience, sustainability in the deepest sense. If any of this strikes your interest or curiosity, let's talk.
